and drink to avoid
We’d recommend you cut down on
sugary foods to help keep your fixed brace and your teeth
clean. Unfortunately, lots of commonly eaten foods are full
of hidden sugar so try and check food labels before you buy.
Sugar is often referred to by a different
name by food manufacturers too, such as glucose syrup, glucose
powder, lactose, caramel, dextrose, maltose and fructose.
We’d recommend:

Cutting down on the sugar you add to foods
like cereal – you’ll soon get used to the
taste. |

Choosing fresh fruit or fruit tinned in natural juice
or water instead of syrup. |

Using artificial sweeteners in drinks like tea and coffee. |

Avoiding fizzy drinks and wherever possible choosing
low calorie options or drinking soft drinks through a
straw. |
